Ontario Legion Homeless Veterans Program Surpasses 500

The Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Command has recently announced their Homeless Veterans program “Operation Leave the Streets Behind”, has surpassed the 500 mark. Since the beginning of the program, over 500 Homeless Veterans have been identified in 114 communities in Ontario and the numbers are growing.
“No one knew at the beginning of this program how many Veterans are Homeless in Ontario and for that matter across Canada” says Dave Gordon, Chairman of the Homeless Veterans Program. “The Veterans are coming forward on their own and we are assisting as they identify and this includes both male and female.”
The program has been in existence since late 2009, and with the generosity of the Legion Branches, Ladies Auxiliary and generous donations of outside organizations and companies the needs of these Veterans are being met.
