LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The lands we know today as the Township of Centre Wellington are on the treaty lands and traditional territory of lands set aside for the people of the Six Nations of the Grand River.
We acknowledge and respect the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Attawandaron, Huron-Wendat Nation, and the Grand River Metis Council who settled these lands long before us and among whom we now live.
Branch 275 of the Royal Canadian Legion embraces our shared responsibility with First Nations people to respect and care for the Earth and its creatures. We can only do so by walking together as stewards of these lands with the duty, together, to live in balance and harmony with all living things.
By honouring this truth of past and present, may we come to true reconciliation through listening, reflecting and learning by working together to fulfill our commitment to peace and mutual acceptance.
